This project turned out to be both incredibly challenging and deeply rewarding. I was tasked with hand-drawing over thirty paintings, flooding a house, creating a gravestone, and more.
As the film’s title suggests, we made extensive use of plastic sheets and moving boxes. Our goal was to evoke a sense of emptiness and monotony in the home following the death of Sasha’s beloved husband. This is a story about grief, memory, and the difficult process of letting go.
Water, in all its overwhelming presence, symbolizes sorrow—heavy, all-encompassing, and suffocating. The plastic sheets, though fragile and transparent, are stubborn against the flow of water. In the film, water first appears as a leak from Sasha’s fridge, gradually flooding her home. The persistent presence of leakproof plastic sheets throughout mirrors her emotional state and the slow but unstoppable intrusion of grief into her life.
